78-year-old man killed in North Philly triple shooting; more than 50 shots fired
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are searching for at least four suspects in connection with a deadly shooting near a busy North Philadelphia intersection.
The gunfire erupted around 4:50 p.m. Tuesday on the 2200 block of Ridge Avenue near Cecil B. Moore Avenue.
Police say three men were found shot at the scene and rushed to Temple University Hospital.
A 78-year-old died from a gunshot wound to the back.
Two others, identified as a 31-year-old and a 71-year-old, were listed in stable condition.
According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, video shows four people getting out of a light-colored SUV and firing more than 50 gunshots.
All three victims were standing along the sidewalk when they were struck.
Surveillance video shows people ducking for cover as the bullets start flying.
Small said a parked unoccupied vehicle and a nearby business were hit by the gunfire.
No other injuries were reported.
A motive for the shooting is still under investigation, according to Small.
Police are still searching for the suspects who were last seen fleeing south on Ridge Avenue.
